This post is much later than I had originally planned. After getting back from the eclipse my back started bothering me. Lower back pain with pain radiating down the back of my left leg. Plus, a third of my left foot toward my toes was numb. This had me sidelined for several weeks. It is beginning to get better. Standing still is my main problem. Walking is getting better, but the foot is still numb. At some point I expect to see my pain management doctor and maybe we can get this fixed. In the meantime, I’m trying to get as much back to normal as I can.
The build is nearing completion. I finished painting the wheels. I masked off the center hub and painted the tires Tamiya Rubber Black.

They are a bit glossy, so I’ll hit them with some matte clear to dull them down.
The rest of the landing gear parts are finished and painted. They will be added to the airframe after the decals go on.

The decals when on quite well. Since the whole plane is flat panels, there weren’t many places where the decals needed to cover uneven surfaces. All I needed was some Micro Set to get the decals on and eliminate any silvering. Here is a photo of the bottom of the model. I’ve also removed the masking from the landing gear wells and added the clear window over the DLIR.

The tail decals were a bit of a challenge since their angle made them difficult to apply. I ended up applying them with the model upside down.
Many of the topside decals were VERY tiny. But they all went down well.

I’ve also applied a coat of Tamiya Clear to protect the decals from the Tamiya Matte Clear that went on over that.
Here is a close up of the cockpit area. The large side windows make the cockpit quite visible, so any detailing done there does show. Sorry for the reflections in the image. Note that the window for the FLIR is also installed.

That’s it for now. I’ve started work on the base. I’ll also drill a hole in the bottom of the F-117 to accept a short piece of metal rod to attach the model to the base. The next post should complete the model. It shouldn’t take a month to get that post out.
Thanks for looking
