Progress continued on the B-Wing. Some of the main parts needed to have some areas painted with the Light Blue. The wing tips had decals, but two things kept me from using them. First, I had painted the blue gray areas with Light Blue so they would not match. Second, there were a couple of significant raised details that would have been very hard to get the decal to conform over. I know that on the Millennium Falcon model I did a while back there were areas that were real buggers to get the decals to cover. I didn’t need that much grief for this model. There were also some sections of the engine area that needed the Light Blue. Here they are painted.

You can also see the masked cockpit canopy. It will stay masked until all the paint, assembly and weathering is finished.
The engine area was completely assembled and put in place. There some light pipes that fit into the center of the nozzles. They will light up with the included LED module. Right now they don’t light because I’m still waiting on the LR41 batteries that I ordered to arrive.

I next moved on to the keel wing and the gun pod that attaches to it. I had heard that some people had trouble with the seam lines on the gun pod. It looks like I’m included in that group. I tried several things to get the seam to close up but it just wouldn’t go away.

In the end, I used some clamps and Tenax to close the gap. The assembly process is nearly done. The kit goes together rather easily. Before I attached the short wings, I added the decals. First I clear coated all the major parts and let it cure. Then I applied the decals. They all when down very well with just MicroSet and in a couple of spots, I added a couple of applications of MicroSol. I then assembled the parts and gave it all a clear coat to prepare for weathering.

I’ll let the clear coat cure for a while and then start weathering.
It’s almost done. Thanks for looking.
