There has not be a lot of progress since the last update. More work than progress. I also have been working a bit on the Mercury Capsule build as a break from the filling and sanding. It is proving somewhat difficult to get a reasonable final surface in some areas. The fins are also proving to be a bit more fragile than I had anticipated so some repairs in that area also took away from the progress.
I gave it a final primer coat and then applied the color coat. There are still some rough spots that I’m not crazy about, but it is time to move forward. Here it is after the color coat.
The intake grills and exhaust area still need to be painted. I masked off the gear bays on the underside and painted them white.
After I paint the grills and exhaust area, I’ll work on the gear doors and the gear themselves.
